Voodoo Love!

As soon as I starting researching Portland, the name Voodoo kept popping up over and over. Don't get me wrong, my sweet tooth is very strong. But how great could a donut really be?

After an early morning flight, we found ourselves walking the streets of Portland in the late afternoon on Saturday. Right away, we found ourselves walking right passed the shop. However, there were red ropes containing a sidewalk full of people down the entire street! I was so disappointed but after seven hours of traveling, standing in a line was not ideal.

Sunday morning came and we woke up around 5am. Still on East Coast time, we figured we would take advantage of it. We had been told the day before that the shop was open 24 hours (people love their donuts!). So a short walk later, we had a pink box in one hand and some yummy coffee in the other. We made a sampler of the best sounding flavors and headed back to the hotel lobby to taste test. All of them were so incredibly tasty and fresh (and unique!), but my favorite, hands down, was the Double Bubble. Antonio's favorite was the Bacon Maple Bar.

I know this is a "Portland Must" when visiting, so I would suggest people visit the shop at an off time. Your tummy will certainly thank you.

Portland Adventures - Part I

Let me start by saying this post is lonnnnnng overdue. If you recall, we actually travelled on our Pacific Northwest trip back in April. I know it's a bit late, but I would like to share with you guys over the next few days some of my favorite moments and photos from the trip. After looking forward to this trip for so long, I felt like we had done a ton of research and had so much to explore. Overall, the weather was a bit grey-we were expecting that- but we planned our outdoor events accordingly. The food and coffee was amazing...AMAZING! I loved all the local fruits, veggies, brews and fish. And people are not lying when they rave about Stumptown coffee.

A great tip I would pass along to those who are travelling to a different city is take advantage of different coupon websites, such as Living Social or Groupon. We were able to find out about a lot of great places and activies for a discounted price - including a pedicab tour of various local breweries! The boy is an avid user of FourSquare and got us 50% off at the Fish Grotto retauraunt, alcohol included! We had the most amazing
bacon-wrapped scallops there. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

I'm so looking forward to sharing more photos and stories in the coming week as well as some of the other trips since!

On the Road

Since my last entry, life has been a whirlwind of exciting events and adventures. In the past four months, I have been to the West Coast and eaten lunch in the Space Needle, hiked in Colorado, baked in the Florida summer heat, saw three close friends get married, received amazing news that my older sister got engaged, and moved apartments in the meantime. I hope you will forgive my absence because I would love to share said moments with you. Also, thank you to everyone who reached out to me while I was missing in action-it means a lot.

It feels good to be back!

Irish Goodies

Hopefully by now you know how much I love decorating and baking. I love celebrating holidays and theme parties. With St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, I started looking around for my favorite party ideas. Looks how adorable these dessert tables are! I LOVE!

I won't be hosting a party this weekend-I'll be in Boston. Very exciting! But maybe next year I can have an Irish festival like the ones below. I would certainly be serving up some Chocolate Whiskey Cupcakes...

Doorways > Parks

Blouse from Gap / Sweater from H&M / Pants from J Crew / Shoes from Target (old)

I'm finding lunchtime outfit shoots to be a great excuse to get outside. The sun has been shinning this week and we have been having such pleasant weather. Instant mood lifter!

I drove to a nearby park and ironically saw this backdrop and abandoned the natural setting. Who doesn't love an attractive brick wall / doorway outfit photo?

Anyway, I realized I don't often take outfit pictures in pants. I usually am wearing a skirt or dress of some sort. I think this is because I feel less creative in pants. Does that sound crazy? I bet it does. Any tips on feeling more stylish in dress pants?

Apartment Swoon

Clock from Modcloth / Artwork from Anderson Design Group / Moose Print from Society 6 /
Bar from Accent Furniture Direct / Lamp from Target / Globe from Urban Outfitters / Couch from Anthropologie

As my one lease ends and another begins, I can't help but browse around online and swoon over some amazing items. I can finally paint my apartment so I hope to pick neutral wall colors and punch up the room with bright, fun accents.

Monday Morning

This Monday is particularly difficult to get through between not sleeping this weekend and losing an hour due to Daylight Savings. So here are some recent photos from my phone because I cannot really think right now.
Need. More. Coffee.

Wes Anderson From Above

Found this cute little number a few days ago and wanted to share with you guys. As you may or may not know, I am a huge Wes Anderson fan. I love this montage of shots from his films. His shots are always so detailed-with his choice of props, costumes and scenery. I suppose when you find a shot/style that works well for you, why fix it?

P.S. Do you have a favorite Wes Anderson film?

Spreadsheets and Sunshine

Skirt from Francesca's / Necklace from Forever 21 / Bracelet from J Crew

Yesterday was a tough day at work. I was going cross-eyed from looking at so many spreadsheets so I decided at lunch time I needed a break. I headed out to a nearby park and decided to take some outfit pictures. The sunshine really did wonders for my soul and helped brighten my mood. For some reason, it never occurred to me before that I could take outfit pictures on lunch. I hope to continue this trend.

(Just in case you needed to see how much my spirits were lifted.)

Style Aquatic

Modcloth posted these beautiful photos in their Style Aquatic Lookbook and I am swooning over them. Underwater photographs must be so incredibly difficult to capture but these show amazing movement and ease. So inspirational!

Last week I posted about my ideal Portland outfit for the big trip next month. Today I'm sharing a Seattle outfit. I think layers is going to be key on this trip...and flats. Oh and I need a purse big enough to hold my camera, a tripod and at least one good travel book! We all know I will be taking photos like crazy...

My Trouble Partner

To a friend who has pushed me to run races (both physically and emotionally), who has told me the harsh truths, who has made me laugh until I cry, and gotten into trouble along side me...

Happy Birthday Shadiah!

An Overtired Outfit Post

This weekend was a good friend's birthday celebration in Asbury Park. We all had such an amazing time dancing, singing and being silly as usual. The next day, I was exhausted and in a very quirky mood. Cue ridiculous impromptu photo session with Adrienne. I was happy for these sunglasses and later, for coffee.

Shirt is my Mom's from 30 years ago! / Scarf from J Crew /
Belt from H&M / Shoes from Target / Sunglasses borrowed from sister

I warned you there were some weird ones...

Copy Cat

I read style blogs daily and love to pull inspiration from them on re-mixing clothes. Sometimes I am so inspired by them that I copy looks without even realizing it. For example, last week I posted about an outfit I wore to a friend's bridal shower. Today, I came across this photo from Jen Loves Kev. Look familiar?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right guys?
