Bitten by the Travel Bug

October begins tomorrow and I cannot believe how fast September has flown by. Autumn is by far my favorite time of the year - the colors, the flavors, the weather, and the clothes. I am excited to be traveling to three different places this month (hoping to get three very different fall experiences out of all of them).

To begin the month, we are making a trip down to Baltimore to see friends who recently moved down there. I'm not sure of the solid plan, but there was talk of the aquarium and touring Camden Yards. My family and I went to Baltimore years ago and I have always wanted to return as an adult. I am very excited for great food and company.

The next trip scheduled is one up to Vermont to visit one of my best friends before she moves home. Amy has scoped out a wonderful hike with amazing views for us. We also plan on doing a Vermont brewery tour which sounds marvelous. I love New England in the fall - it is one of the most beautiful places ever. I also cannot wait to meet Amy's new pup!

Finally, I will be making a trip for work to Chicago. I'm really hoping it does not get too cold while I am out there. I expect to not see much outside of the hotel meeting rooms. But travel is travel!

Are you going anywhere special?

Puppy Love

Sometimes I just want to play with a puppy. This weekend, we went to the local puppy store and played with some cuties. People were outside protesting puppy mills and holding signs with photos of very sad dogs. I have never purchased a dog from a store. My family has had three yellow labs in my lifetime and all came from breeders. I also have friends who have adopted adorable furry friends who could not be happier!

I am not at the stage in my life where I could care for a dog the way it deserves. I still would like to travel more and not always to dog-friendly destinations. Being away from home (and Scout) does make me miss having a dog to greet me at the door. Maybe in a few years when I am feeling more settled, I will be able to get a puppy. For now, the puppy store will be the closest I will get to having one of my own.

(Speaking of Scout...)

All Night on the Beach Till the Break of Dawn

Welcome to Miami!

Things lined up that I would be traveling down to Miami for work on a Monday morning. I decided to take advantage of the weekend prior to the meeting by spending it in Miami Beach. I have never been so I figured why not! I am all about exploring new places while I am young and have limited responsibility.

I admit, the most tropical location I have visited is Florida. I have never been to an island in the Caribbean or on a cruise. So this was a little trial run for me. As I have mentioned before, I don't tan or feel great in a bathing suit - so I wasn't sure how I would feel about being in the sun and water all weekend. Turns out, I loved it! The water is just too beautiful to not love. I could swim in it all day! All in all, Miami was a great success and the meeting went swimmingly (get it?) as well.

Cooking Mama

Since moving out, I have been forced to cook for myself. I guess this happens to everyone. I have been trying to teach myself to try new things and to experiement in the kitchen. I purchased a subscritpion to Real Simple and have bought a few cooking books targeting fellow "quick dinner" readers.

Pretty bland post, but it's a Monday!

The Break-up?

Photo found here.

We have not broken up. We are on a "break". I have been so incredibly busy with work and personal things that I haven't had the opportunity to share more with you. I travel tonight to Miami for a meeting so wish me luck! I promise to pay more attention to you upon my return.
