Some days (especially onsite) can be major uppers and major downers. Things have a way of changing so quickly, sometimes you feel like you can't keep up. There are some major set backs that cause anxiety and panic; but then there are days you are thanked continuously for doing such an amazing job. I suppose it is those stellar thank yous that keep you going and remind you of the career you aim to achieve.

I arrived this morning onsite in Chicago for work. Though I won't have much time to explore this time around, I have been thinking about the last time I was here a year ago. It was the weekend after driving around the country and the deep dish pizza was a treat. Enjoy your week, I'll be hustling in Central Time!

My lovely gal pal Arianne is engaged and planning her wedding for next June. Since we all know weddings are ridiculously costly, she asked me to help her out with the save the dates for her guests. I was excited to not only design something new and fun, but also to be able to help a friend out. She let me know her color scheme and sent me some possible layouts for the magnet. On a drizzly day, we had a photo shoot in a Verona park and came up with some fun shots. Ed was such a good sport!
The magnet is now hung on my refrigerator and I love seeing it every time I open the door. I hope to do more work in the future like this - I really enjoyed it.

It's difficult to take photos of the cupcake making process when I have goo and icing and batter all over my hands. I find myself quickly taking photos on my phone instead of using my real camera. Anyway, my baking experiment this week was pumpkin spice latte cupcakes. As I have expressed earlier, Autumn is my favorite season and pumpkin flavored goodies are a big reason why.
I found a great recipe for these on Annie's Eats a while back and was oh-so-excited to make them. I still have to work on perfecting the whipped icing - it tasted great but it wasn't the consistency I was hoping for. Also, I adopted a new technique when filling the cupcake liners with the batter. I took a plastic bag and cut the corner and filled with batter (like you would fill an icing bag). This helped prevent random batter on the pan itself and up the sides of the liner.

Our trip to Vermont begins tonight after work. I cannot think of a better place to visit during my favorite season. My last trip up to the Green Mountain State was last summer. Even then I was amazed at how beautiful everything was - I cannot imagine it with the changing of the leaves. Here are a few photos from the last visit.
Wait...have I mentioned I'm excited?

I am happy to report I have registered and will be running my first race in less than one month. The race is called Beauty and the Beach and is held in Pier Village in Long Branch. I entered with my college roommate and some other good friends. Although I am nervous about the five miles, I know that we will be able to complete it.
Running in a strange way makes me very happy. It makes me feel good about my body and I feel accomplished. Recently, I have been toying with the idea of trying to train for a half marathon. Although a lot shorter, I think this experience will give me a good idea of the atmosphere and feel of a race. Plus, I like that this particular one is for women only.
This weekend was our first trial run for it. I have to say, it was pretty successful! We do have a lot more work to do though. More training to follow!
Above is the route for the race.

This weekend was unseasonably warm and beautiful. Antonio and I decided to take advantage of the weather and go apple picking. I try and do this every year because I love baking apple pies for family. These are some photos of a great day together. Stay tuned for an apple pie post soon.

...Became a lovely desk for me! About a year ago, I was driving and saw some curb furniture. I decided to pick up one of the pieces and try to re-do it. With a new coat of baby blue paint, drawer liners, and some fancy drawer pulls from Anthrolpolgie, a star was born. This little guy now lives in my room and provides a home for my laptop (and a ton of other junk as you can see). I really look forward to more DIY projects like this one!
